How does my artistic side enhance my work as an instructional designer?

My artistic side enriches my work as an instructional designer and educational technologist in a variety of ways. I am able to see things in new ways, brainstorm ideas that are out of the box, use my artistic talents to add an aesthetic appeal.
Also, my time as a set and costume designer for film and theatre has taught me how to work well with people, communicate my ideas visually and verbally, and work on a tight deadline with a small budget. I can take my experience creating storyboards, prototypes and translate all this into my instructional design work.
Part of my work as a set and costume designer was to take a script, break it down into various details, try and understand the characters (where they lived, what their motivations were), and research the context. Part of the work of an instructional designer is to know your audience and figure out what they need in order to learn and to be more successful in their work. I have an innate ability to put myself in people's shoes and find solutions to their problems.
All the paintings on this site are my creations.
